I am going to stick up for conservatives here and point out that Ailes is definitely a man with an agenda but I'm not sure you could honestly call it a conservative agenda. Pro big business, hawkish, no regulations, sure, but those are just areas where his self-interest happens to coincide with neo-consevatism and theo-conservatism boosts his ratings. True conservative's main issues have historically been balanced budgets, small government and very careful exercise of military intervention.
