So nice to see that party unity already at work. Joe the Lieberman, a man who has gone from party elite to "goodbye Joe" in just four short years, all because he stood by his principles.

If anything demonstrates what today's Democratic party is all about, this post is it.

Frank, Joe Lieberman campaigned actively for his party's opponent. He appeared at the opposing party's convention, and traveled with the opposing candidate speaking ill of his own party's nominee. Surely you can't believe that he should maintain his position in the party's Senate leadership.

No, I don't. However, I don't think he should have been part of that leadership since his party turned on him because he stood by his convictions in support of the war. The man is still a liberal at heart when it comes to most issues, but he supported something bigger than a party and more important to him than being liked by his peers. He earned my respect back for that, after losing it when he put his own beliefs on hold during his campaign with Gore.

You may nor may not have noticed, Frank, but there are lots of Democrats who manage to stay true to their beliefs while not turning on the party. Harry Reid, for example, is pro-life.

Yes, but Harry is also an idiot which, you know, allows Dems to continue to feel comfortable around him.
