Heath and Deborah Campbell and their three children are -- they swear -- innocent victims. When they tried to get a cake decorated for their three year old's birthday, the bakery they chose refused to do it. They're mystified and horrified and dismayed that people could so lack tolerance that they would refuse to make a cake with their child's full name on it: Adolph Hitler Campbell.
"I think people need to take their heads out of the cloud they've been in and start focusing on the future and not on the past," Heath Campbell said Tuesday..."There's a new president and he says it's time for a change; well, then it's time for a change," the 35-year-old continued. "They need to accept a name. A name's a name."
Yeah, those rotten people, victimizing a little kid like this. Why, the next thing you know they're going to start making jokes about Campbell's other children, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell.
When asked, Campbell -- who had requested that swastikas be included on previous cake designs -- insisted that he's not a racist.
"If we're so racist, then why would I have them come into my home?"

Y'know, these people are whack, sure, but I have wondered before about the name "Adolf", whether far fewer parents in Germany named their children that after WWII, or indeed how many still do in America, now that the name is pretty much like "Britney" in that it conjures up but one image.

They didn't name their son the innocuous "Adolf". They named him Adolf Hitler. And his sister carries the middle names Aryan Nation. I have a friend who wears a Charlie Chaplin mustache. He like to provoke people, he's Jewish and he spends about half the year doing research in Germany. But at least he calls it a Charlie Chaplin.
