In the words of Bob Woodward:
"No one has the illusion that a president is commander in chief of the economy, he is not."

Evidently he was mistaken, some do have that illusion.

Yes, and we'll stop believing that as soon as conservatives stop giving Reagan credit for reviving the economy.

My question is: how come conservative doctrine is only responsible for good things that happen to the economy, and never bad things?

"My question is: how come conservative doctrine is only responsible for good things that happen to the economy, and never bad things?"

As if Liberal dogma is any different? Like blaming "The Bush Administration" for everything negative ( a la Barney Frank and TARP last week) when Congress is part of that administration?

We did have the harmonic convergence of Bush's neocon ideological belief in deregulation with Barney Frank's and others' lobbyist induced work toward the same goal. Hey, why choose stupidity or greed when you can have both?
Steve, don't be too touchy about Tom's comment. The whole time Democrats were trying to take credit for the dotcom boom (before it was recognized as a bubble)Republicans were indeed claiming it was delayed Reaganomics that was boosting the economy.
